Announcing Finley's Monthly Servicer Report Capabilities

For many Corporate Borrowers, especially those with warehouse facilities, generating Monthly Servicer Reports (MSR) is a logistical and technological challenge.

Which team at the company owns the historical data exports required for this month's reporting? What comments or notes have co-workers made on deliverables that are currently in progress? Where can I view the previous month's submission?

Today, we're excited to announce how Finley's Monthly Servicer Reporting capabilities solve the collaboration, data, and knowledge management challenges that often lead to difficulties assembling MSRs. For over four years, we've worked with Finance teams to identify the most difficult parts of MSR generation and tracking. Our software capabilities around MSRs reflect everything we've learned, and establish a foundation for future debt capital automation and optimization.

The Coordination Challenge: What's Required, and When?

MSRs require meticulous data aggregation from disparate sources, complex calculations derived from credit agreements, and a lot of QA.

When borrowers get things wrong, the back-and-forth with lenders can be painful for both sides--particularly if it's not clear where discrepancies in data come from.

That's why Finley's MSR capability lives in our Deliverables module. Seeing what's "Due Soon" and having instant access to previous reports creates a single source of truth for preparing MSRs or reviewing last month's outputs.

But as you can see from the screenshot, MSRs require a number of inputs: 14-16 files, in the examples shown.

Each file has different formatting requirements, and can be programmatically generated (e.g., a loan tape) or manually entered (a cash balance). That's why, clicking into the features, we can see how Finley addresses the "data aggregation" elements of MSRs.

Data Aggregation: How Should Files Look?

Clicking into the upcoming report, Finley shows us exactly which files we need to generate, as well as what format those files should take. The "data dictionary" of each file type is important context, especially if your Finance team needs to interact with, say, a Data or Engineering team to get historical reports.

Because it's not always easy to generate the file correctly the first time, Finley also includes collaboration and versioning capabilities for updating previously submitted files.

What we've heard from Finance teams is that with over a dozen requirements for MSRs, it's often difficult to track versioning for every single file, especially if those files fail QA checks and need to be versioned up.

Providing a first-class file management and collaboration experience solves for that pain point.

Streamlining Generation and Tracking: The First Debt Capital System of Record

By streamlining the process of monthly servicer report data collection and generation, Finley helps both lenders and borrowers have a better understanding of their past and future debt capital obligations. This doesn't just save both sides dozens of hours a month, it minimizes financial risk for borrowers and portfolio risk for lenders. Just as importantly, every single data point from our MSR capability is stored in Finley's data lake and can be aggregated, queried, and visualized.

That means your debt capital data isn't stuck in an Excel spreadsheet or inbox, but instead can be used for analysis.

Transparent, auditable, accurate reporting builds trust between lenders and borrowers, and allows them to spend more time thinking about capital allocation, risk management, and portfolio optimization.

Rather than spend time wondering whether MSRs are accurate or on time, Finance teams can now focus on what's next and better serve their businesses.
